Driver Training–Professional Driver Improvement Course
HSE’s Professional Driver Improvement is a classroom-based program that focuses on proactive techniques to prevent large-vehicle (big rig) collisions in all types of weather and road surfaces. The curriculum includes: traffic regulations; time management; mental and physical preparedness; seeing/scanning and action zones; route selection; fatigue management; distractions; and mental disturbances brought on by stress or fatigue. New technology and equipment are also included.
Most of all, the intent of the course is to change driver attitudes. The program can be tailored to meet most company-specific driving situations.
This course is recognized by Alberta Transportation Safety Board and achievement of a test score of 80% or greater can reduce three demerit points from an operator’s license in that province.
The course objectives are to:
- Improve thinking and sharpness
- Distinguish good drivers from bad
- Remind drivers of the importance of vigilance when operating a motor vehicle
- Provide an attitude check for drivers
- Instruct on pre-trip inspections and personal inspections

Certification: Attitude People Inc (recognized in Alberta)
