Well Control and Well Intervention Training

HSE Integrated Ltd. has entered into an alliance with Well Control Group to offer International Well Control Forum (IWCF) certified training for drilling and completions personnel.

IWCF certification is an ISO-9001 approved program that uses a well control simulator to train and test in kick circulation methods. The syllabus is designed to develop excellent understanding of well control equipment and the principles that lead to well control issues. The course presentation ensures that the candidates learn to make real-time decisions while circulating invading fluids from a well using any well control method.

Well Control

Two certificates are available at the driller and supervisory levels:

  • Surface Stack Well Control
  • Combined Surface and Subsea Well Control
  • Certificates are earned after demonstrating competence in three disciplines:
  • Well control equipment
  • Principles and procedures of well control
  • Circulating a kick using a well control simulator; the driller’s method or the wait-and-weight method are both used

Well Intervention

Aimed at the well servicing sector, these in-depth IWCF certificate courses are available at Level 1 (Basic) and Level 2 (Supervisory) in the following disciplines:

Completions principles and procedures

  • Wireline
  • Snubbing
  • Coiled tubing
  • Downhole Equipment (packers, subsurface safety valves, gas lift mandrels, etc.)

The five-day course includes classroom instruction followed by written examinations. Training courses run every week, Monday to Friday at the HSE / Well Control Group facility located at 3120 – 93rd Street, Edmonton.
